U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative
The CivicPACE project, led by The Solar Foundation and funded through the U.S. Department of Energy's SunShot Initiative, was developed by The Solar Foundation, Clean Energy Solutions, Inc., and Urban Ingenuity. CivicPACE is working to advance solar energy deployment in tax-exempt organizations, such as non-profits, affordable housing, faith-based institutions, and schools, through Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE).
Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) is an innovative financing tool that provides property owners with access to long-term, low-cost capital through a local jurisdiction or private capital provider for qualified building energy improvements, such as solar, which is then repaid to a through an building owner's property tax bill.
PACE has been enabled in 32 states, including the District of Columbia.
